   Asking the right questions, listening effectively, and taking action can make a tremendous difference in the your organization - affecting growth, culture, and long term success. Leading with Questions outlines not just why question leadership is important, but outlines a series of questions for each chapter. With interviews of over 200 successful leaders, the book weaves real world application and results with the theory and recommendations of the authors. This is not a book you can breeze through, looking for a helpful snippet or two. Implementing this practice will take time and effort, but the impact on your organization, your leadership, and your people is worth the investment!

   Leading with Questions by Michael Marquardt and Bob Tiede is a leadership book about becoming a more effective leader by learning to ask more questions. The book is divided into three sections: The Power of Questions; Asking Questions Effectively; and A Guide for Leaders on When and How to Ask Powerful Questions. Throughout the book the author uses quotes from management gurus as well as interviews of top business leaders about their use of questions and the value that it provides. I felt the second section was the most useful. It was the how to that addressed both the “how to” of forming great questions both as a leader as well as within the teams you are leading. It is useful for leaders and coaches who have a heart to develop their employees and coaches through the many types of questions mentioned in the book. On the negative side it was a bit repetitive and while the extensive use of sample/example questions is informative I wish it had been a bit more organized for future reference. That said, a good and practical read for anyone seeking to create engaged relationships and lead well.
